Hello Players and Parents of Santiago HS Girls Lacrosse,

I want to thank all our enthusiastic and talented players for an excellent season at all levels.

Varsity had their best year ever with a 13-4 record, finished ranked #1 in the Inland Empire, and we won the Inland Empire Cup tournament. JV had their best year ever at 16-1, providing great promise for our future.

Our parents have been amazingly supportive this year, not only supporting their daughters and our coaches, but also helping the booster club raise the most money in our history.

Our Booster Board consisting of Amy Deserio, Laura Dellisanti, Katie Knight, William Knight and Nesreen Tiedt provided us with a first class year end banquet, provided 2 high quality branded “Sharks Lacrosse” canopies, and most importantly, the booster club will end the year with our highest reserves ever and with a sound financial footing for the future. A special thanks goes out to Amy for 3 straight years of dedicated service as President.

We all need to thank Steve Mitchell, our Athletic Director, and Diane Bry, our Athletic Clerk, for 4 years of outstanding support for our program.

As most of you know, I have had the pleasure of coaching these amazing young women for 4 years. The program started 4 years ago thanks to my daughter Renee Tiedt and her friend Maddy Cunningham going into Steve Mitchell’s office and asking if they could start a girl’s lacrosse club at Santiago. Over 90 percent of the players in our program learned lacrosse at our high school.

With the help of a great coaching staff including Larry Palochik, Ken Burr, Marin Martinez, and Eddie Bradshaw, our program has become not only the most successful program in the Inland Empire, we are now the standard the other programs strive to achieve.

My plan has always been to grow the program by surrounding myself with the best support staff so the program will perpetually be successful. The best move I made was to recruit Larry Palochik because he was an excellent soccer coach and administrator. Larry was the Commissioner of AYSO in Corona. I considered this one of my smartest coaching moves to recruit someone who offsets my weaknesses and has the talent not only to replace me, but to bring our program to a higher level in the future.

I feel like I am just a little too young to “retire” and the word “resign” sounds negative, so I would just like to say that I will be spending a lot more time with my beautiful wife, Nesreen, and my amazing family, and I will be rooting for Santiago HS Girls Lacrosse from the stands next year.

Thank you all for 4 great years.

Kurt Tiedt
Head Coach Santiago HS Girls Lacrosse until June 2, 2018
